Zoe is the 22 year old British Champion, Commonwealth Champion and European Bronze medallist weightlifter from South London. She also holds the British clean and jerk record. Having started lifting at the age of 12, almost by accident, she has become the poster girl of the sport, as well as a role model for girls all over the UK.
In October 2010 she won a Bronze medal in the women’s 58kg division at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, her first senior international competition, to become the first Englishwoman to win a Commonwealth Games weightlifting medal. Four years later she took the Gold as Champion in Glasgow.
In May 2012 Zoe was chosen, as part of Team GB, to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics in London. She competed in the Women’s 58kg division and she took the British record with a clean and jerk lift of 121.0 kg (266.8 lb). The record previously stood at 119.0 kg (262.4 lb). With a snatch of 90.0 kg (198.4 lb) she was placed 12th in her weight-class with a total of 211.0 kg (465.2 lb).
In June 2015 Zoe competed in the hotly contested British Championships and came out on top, setting a new personal best in the snatch of 96kg to win with a total of 214kg. She was selected as part of the GB team that went to Houston Texas in November for the 2015 IWF World Championships, where she set a new ‘snatch’ personal best of 97kg in the 63kg weight division as she finished ninth overall. Her subsequent 124kg ‘clean and jerk’ and overall total of 221kg beat Michaela Breeze’s previous GB record.
Zoe, who splits her time between London and Bath, is an average 22 year old girl who likes shopping, posting updates on Twitter & Instagram, knows a bit about decent coffee, and she just happens to be able to lift, spending her days training in the gym. She is a proud Londoner and loves to spend time in the city. Zoe champions the #strongnotskinny message and likes to use her strength to inspire others to believe in themselves and try something new.
