Adidas Sport eyewear has today announced its brand ambassador partnership with UCI Professional women’s cycling team Podium Ambition Pro Cycling Powered By Club La Santa.
The highly successful team scored 33 individual race victories in 2015, as well as taking the Tour Series Team title where they have reigned as champions for the past two years. The recently announced 2016 team line up will include Dame Sarah Storey who subject to selection, will be heading to her 7th Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer, as well as the core of the 2015 team including, Joanna Rowsell-Shand MBE, Katie Archibald and 11 other pro riders. New signings for 2016 include 2008 Olympian and former British Road Champion, Sharon Laws.
The professional team will adorn adidas’ Evil Eye halfrim pro sunglass, which has led the field in technical sport eyewear and is currently the frame of choice for UCI World Tour professionals Movistar Team.
The evil eye halfrim pro is a lightweight model packed with innovative technology to offer the best visual performance. Its panoramic view provides athletes with enhanced perception of their surroundings, avoiding the need to rotate their head or upper body. Research from the respected Sports Vision Institute (Loughborough) shows that the evil eye halfrim pro improves all-round vision by 16 percent in comparison with competing sunglass models, resulting in a 66 percent reduction in riders’ head movements. Cyclists, therefore, expend less energy, tire much less quickly and have a significantly more stable and secure position on the bike.
Ensuring the highest visual performance is a key element to the team’s success and will form a key part of their preparation for 2016 season. Dame Sarah Storey sums up, “Eyewear needs to be comfortable, light and guarantee optimal vision in all weather conditions, protect our eyes from UV rays, headwind and water. The evil eye halfrim pro meets all these requirements, making it the perfect choice for our team.”
“We’re very proud and happy to announce our partnership with the Podium Ambition team,” says UK Head of Marketing for adidas Sport eyewear, Karen Parsons. “We couldn’t ask for more than the UK’s leading women’s team choosing our eyewear and look forward to an exciting year ahead.”
Like all other models in the adidas Sport eyewear collection, the evil eye halfrim pro is designed and manufactured by renowned eyewear producer Silhouette International in Austria.
